Is your cell phone even a cell phone anymore?

Dave Gorby • April 15, 2022

Modern Cell Phones are just miniature computers

Modern cell phones are not like those from 4-5 years ago. Modern phones are miniature and powerful computers. Most websites are designed with the cell phone form factor in mind making your browsing and shopping experience easy and pleasurable. Modern phones come with cameras and camera software that challenge most professional grade cameras.  Upgraded and ultra accurate GPS is available for a multitude of applications. Deep, rich, and colorful OLED displays, in all modern high end cell phones, provide a viewing experience that far outweighs previous generations’ cell phones. Fast phone software allows us to move between applications in an instant. All of this comes with a cost however. At retail prices exceeding $1k for new phones, many of us cannot or will not pay this kind of money for phone/computer. Many of you turn to large corporate carriers like Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T to finance the latest technology - and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, when you finance with these carriers, you should be aware that, despite their spectacular deals on devices, they definitely make their money with their overpriced cellular services. Additionally, many of you elect to pay for insurance for the device which adds to your bottom line payment. These phones, just like ours, come with a one year warranty - a standard in the industry. But while these  phones/computers that you’re paying on for three years are locked to the carrier, preventing you from the freedom to change carriers, ours remain unlocked to allow you that freedom at a fraction of the new phone cost.  So whether or not you choose us or finance through a corporate carrier, we want to know, how has the modern age of cell phones/computers provided an advantage for you?
